CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda is eyeing the approval of the proposed calamity code for the province to address all types of disaster including climate change.
Angelina Blanco, provincial disaster risk reduction management officer (PDRRMO) said the vice governor told her to coordinate and help the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in drafting the proposed code.
“Vice Gov informed our office about his plan to create a calamity code for the province. This is one of his priority ordinances for this year since we do not have one that will guide the provincial government.
She said the code is possibly the first in the country because it is holistic in nature that will address not only disasters like, typhoon, earthquakes and fire but also climate change.
To be included in the code is the series of trainings on water search and rescue operation, and other disaster training courses.
Blanco said the vice governor aims to make the Kapampangans disaster resilient and the province disaster-ready.
“The province has to be disaster resilient since we are frequently visited by typhoons and other calamities. All we need is a guide to attain this objective of the provincial government. As of now we only rely on the basic and usual activities done in the previous years,” she said.
