STO.TOMAS,Pampanga — Gov.Lilia Pineda told the municipal and barangay officials of
the province’ 4th district that the newly renovated former old building of the Department
of Health (DOH) turned into Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University
(DHVTSU)Satellite Campus located in barangay Moras dela Paz here will be opened
next school year in June this year.
According to Engr. Olimpio “Noli” Pangan, assistant provincial engineer, the provincial
government funded the improvement and rehabilitation of the said former DOH facility
and converted it into a school buildings amounting to P17-million. Another P5-million for
site development and additional P3 million for upgrading of roads were okayed by the
provincial government.
“The school buildings were constructed fitted and conducive for learning and training
activities,”said Pangan.
With this,Gov.Pineda instructed the fourth district mayors and village officials to inform
their constituents that DHVTSU satellite campus – a school closer to them is now ready
to accept enrollees and transferees.
She said the campus will prioritize poor but deserving students from the district and
nearby towns.
“This sattelite campus will bring quality and affordable education to our students.
Distance and tuition fee will no longer hinder them in their quest for quality education,”
Pineda stated.
DHVTSU execs, village chiefs laud Gov
DHVTSU President Dr. Enrique Baking lauded the support given by the provincial
government in extending the services of the state university to far flung areas of the
province.
Baking stressed that DHVTSU did not shell out even a single centavo for the
establishment of the satellite campus and the provincial government under the
leadership of the governor has shouldered it all.
The DHVTSU president said that one of the requirements of a state university is to put
up satellite campuses. “We are lucky that Gov.Pineda’s education program includes
establishing a school.
Brgy.Captain June Muñoz of Paligi Apalit commended the governor for bringing
education closer to the communities and to the people which they pledged to serve.
“We are thankful to the governor for taking into consideration the plight of the students
in our respective towns in the 4th district who suffer the most due to expensive travel
allowance when going to school,”Muñoz stated.
Fourth District Board Member Nestor Tolentino, who sponsored the resolution creating
the satellite campus said the capitol will subsidize some P3 million a year starting this
year for the operating expenses of DVTSU Sto.Tomas satellite campus.
The board member noted that the provincial government will allot P3 million every year
for the school to sustain its operation and to ensure quality and affordable education to
kapampangan students.
DVTSU Sattelite Campus will offer technical and vocational courses and other programs
similar to that of the main campus in Bacolor and satellite campus in Mexico such as
business administration, bachelor of education and Information Technology courses,
among others.
