715 poor Cabalens receive P1.5M for livelihood

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- Some 715 marginalized Kapampangans were given a total amountof P1.5-million by the Department of Labor and Employment in partnership with the provincial government’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) through the “Tulong Panghanap Buhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD).

To tap the services of the disadvantaged workers from the various municipalities of the province and employ them through the cash for work scheme, the DOLE has coordinated and worked with the PESO employees headed by Luningning Vergara, PESO manager.

Vergara said the TUPAD program intends to give temporary employment to indigents and disadvantage workers.

“Recipients of the TUPAD program are unemployed and indigent Kapampangans who are willing to work temporarily under the supervision of the municipal PESO,”said Vergara.

Beneficiaries were tasked to help clean the environment and repair classrooms affected and inundated by floodwater. They were paid P330 a day or P1,650 for five days.

Rima Hernandez, officer-in-charge of DOLE Pampanga field officer said DOLe Central Luzon subsidized the salary of workers totalling P1, 179,750 while the provincial government counterpart is 20 percent or 294, 937.

“TUPAD is a partnership between DOLE and the provincial government aiming to give temporary aid to poor families,” Hernandez stated.

Aside from this,Gov. Pineda distibuted nego-karts to 35 beneficiaries and 750 relief goods.

“These people are indigents it would be a big help to their families if they go home with salary and relief goods in their hands,”Gov.Pineda said.
