CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- Some 47,519 Capampangan families who belong to the poorest of the poor in Pampanga benefited from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

In her report to Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Elizabeth Baybayan, PSWD officer-in-charge said that aside from the 10,000 recipients of the National Housing Targeting System-Poverty Reduction (NHTS- PR) of the DSWD, there is an additional 37, 519 families.

“Based on the assessment of the DSWD Regional Office on the NHTS-PR Program, poor families in the province are more than 10,000 that is why the beneficiaries of 4Ps for 2012 rose to a total of 47,519”, Baybayan said.

With the increase in number of 4Ps beneficiaries, the governor lauded the national government for extending assistance to the poor Kapampangan families.

“We are thankful to the national government for giving us 40 thousand Philhealth cards and for including our kabalen to the 4Ps of the DSWD”, Pineda stated.

Baybayan said Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P’s) is a flagship project of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo carried  by the Aquino Administration and they call it,”Conditional Cash Transfer”.

Under this program identified beneficiaries receive P1400 monthly for five years or a total of P84, 000. It is conditional because recipients are required to send their children in school and attend seminars and meeting of the barangay health centers regarding family planning.
