Aurora Gov Lauds Pampanga Bamboo Dev’t Council

CITY SAN FERNANDO – Aurora Governor Bellaflor  Angara- Castillo lauded the provincial government for the creation of the Pampanga Bamboo Development Council (PBDC) that promotes bamboo propagation.

Gov. Angara-Castillo, concurrent president of Central Luzon Growth Corridor Foundation Inc. said that bamboo development is one of the target projects of their organization.

The governor said she really appreciate and is glad to know the existence of Pampanga Bamboo Development Council (PBDC).

“The foundation is about to propose this project to the provinces in the region, I am glad that you have started it here in Pampanga” she added.

She disclosed that CLGFCI will be holding a study tour in Vietnam to learn about their bamboo industry. “The delegation from different provinces will stay there for a week from July 31- August 6 of this year to observe bamboo traditional and modern production technologies which can be adopted locally. “Vietnam is a more appropriate benchmark and we can learn from their enterprises and industry leaders,” Castillo said.

The governor stressed that it is more significant for Pampanga to join the learning trip in order to observe the impact of the bamboo industry especially those engaged in engineered bamboo production and village based crafts in the rural industrialization of Vietnam.

In response, Gov. Lilia Pineda assured Castillo that Pampanga will send six representatives to enhance the knowledge of the bamboo council about this industry.

“Masaya tayo na uumpisan palang sa iba, meron na tayong existing council dito sa Pampanga pero kailangan pa nating palakasin ito”, Pineda stated.

Pineda said she is interested to know more on government interventions needed for the industry to flourish and this will be presented during the celebration of Bamboo Day on August 24  to be held at Ayala, Magalang. (Jenna Lumbang, PIO Pampanga)
