Gov. Pineda to BHWs: Stay Out of Politics

LUBAO, Pampanga- Governor. Lilia “Nanay Baby” G. Pineda ordered the Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) to stay away from politics in order to deliver genuine services to all Capampangans.

In her message to BHWs, the governor stressed that government service is not conditional and it should not be politicized.

“Politics is not the reason why we are here in public service. We are tasked to look for our Cabalens who are indigents, sick and in need of help. We must serve them without conditions”, Pineda said.

With this statement from the governor, some BHWs who asked for anonymity bravely reported to the governor that other village officials threatened them to be dismissed if they did not follow their instruction to prioritize their barangay leaders and those who supported their political interest.

“Other barangay officials personally hand-picked people who can avail the services coming from the government and different agencies especially relief goods. Most of them are their people or political leaders”, BHWs disclosed.

The governor told BHWs to report to her if they were removed from work for following her order of fair and equal delivery of services to the people.

She stressed that no officials are allowed to ask for condition and consideration when helping the people particularly the poorest of the poor.

“ Sumbung yula kaku, o nung yaku gang misan eku sinaup ating kundisyun na ibotu daku. Nung edanaku buri mamaynawa ku! (Report them to me. Even I never asked for votes whenever I help. If they don’t want me anymore, then I will rest!)”, she declared.

Gov. Pineda stated that next time she doesn’t want to see patients who are not indigents. She asked BHWs to help her abolish “palakasan system” in public service.

She added the capitol will deploy coordinators from Provincial Health Office in their barangays to help BHWs to full blast the health programs of the provincial government up to the grassroot level.
