Robredo Gives P4-M to 4 Pampanga Towns

CLARK Freeport – Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse M. Robredo led the provision of P1-million each to the four towns of Pampanga who were given last year the Seal of Good Housekeeping Awards (“Mahusay at Matinong Pangangasiwa”) during the “Central Luzon Tapatan Road Show on Disaster Preparedness and Climate Change Adaptation held at the Oxford Hotel here the other day.

Robredo personally handed the financial subsidies to San Luis Mayor Venancio Macapagal, Floridablanca Mayor Eddie Guerrero, Porac Mayor Condralito Dela Cruz and Lubao officials.

The event was by graced by Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio Umali, Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Alvarado, Aurora Governor Bellaflor Angara Castillo, Central Luzon mayors led by City of San Fernando Mayor Oscar Rodriguez.

These local officials said that this recognition and the forum on disaster preparedness gave them inspiration to strive hard to improve more their performance on transparency and full disclosure in governance and they were very honored that their efforts were given due acknowledgment by the national government.

Fourth District Board Member Nestor Tolentino was tasked by Governor Lilia Pineda to read her message which emphasized that disaster preparedness and peoples’ safety are Pampanga’s priority.

Tolentino said the province of Pampanga is honored to have been chosen as the venue for this significant gathering of government leaders in Central Luzon.

The board member also assured the officials of DILG that disaster risk reduction management is being undertaken the whole year and not just during the time of calamity.

“Asahan po ninyo dito sa Pampanga, isang taon po ang paghahanda dahil prayoridad po namin ang kaligtasan ng mga mamamayan sa panahon ng sakuna at kalamidad,” Tolentino ended. (Angelique DC. Tuazon, PIO Pampanga)
