Guv Orders Flood Mitigation, Irrigation Works in Sta. Rita

STA. RITA — With the belief that road rehabilitation is useless if flooding persists in this town, Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda has directed the local chief executives here headed by Mayor Yolanda Pineda and the provincial engineering office to work together for the immediate implementation of flood mitigation and irrigation projects in different farming villages here.

The governor said she plans to put up a water impounding facility in barangays San Basilio, San Isidro and in Panganan Bridge to serve as flood mitigation and irrigation for the rice farms here.

Pineda said there is a need to implement the canalization projects in various villages here for the security of the children and other publics as well as to contain the obnozxious odor coming from the canals.

The governor said she instructed the provincial engineers to implement road widening to provide pathways for the pedestrians.

Meanwhile, farmers here who are members of Farmers In the Community Multi_Purpose Cooperative were given two tractors and one thresher from the governor and another hand tractor from Mayor Pineda in response to their request. (Joshua Marie Mercado, Pampanga PIO)
