CANDABA — Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda led the first fluvial procession along the stretch of Pampanga River from this town traversing the towns of San Luis, San Simon to Apalit in commemoration of the 60th founding anniversary of the Crusade of Penance and Charity.
Devotees of Virgen delos Remedios and Sto. Cristo del Perdon from various parishes throughout the province gathered in this town to participate in this momentous event and they were fetched by 52 motorized banca.
“This is the first time that we will hold a fluvial procession which will cover the towns of Candaba, San Luis, San Simon, and Apalit,” Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo proudly declared.
Archbishop Paciano Aniceto also graced the festivities and reminded the people of the true meaning of being a ‘Kapampangan’.
“Ing ‘Kapampangan’ ibat ya king ‘pampang’. Itamu kapampangan tamu, mikagli ta king danum, mibait ta king danum, anya luguran taya ing danum. Uling ing danum, biye ya,” Archbishop Aniceto shared.
Meanwhile, Governor Pineda urged the people to participate in the activity and ask for the Blessed Mother’s protection during the times of calamities and flooding.
However, the governor also reminded that prayers should also be complimented with action.
“Panalangin tamu kang Virgen delos Remedios a sana pu etana dadanasan ing malalam a albug. At sana pu gawan tamu rin ing kaburyan ning birhen a luguran taya at ingatan ing buong stretch ning Pampanga river bankanita pu makapagkabiyayan tamu at sumanting ya ing Pampanga,” the governor ended.
The fluvial procession was also graced by 4th District Board Members Ric Yabut and Nestor Tolentino, 2nd District Board Members Fritzie David-Dizon and Salvador Dimson Jr., and 3rd District Board Members Trina Dizon and Monz Laus, along with other barangay officials.
