Coastal Folks Laud Capitol, Nat’l Gov’t For “Caravan Of Services”

MASANTOL – Hundreds of marginalized families from Sapang Kawayan, a coastal barangay here lauded the provincial led by Governor Lilia “Nanay” G. Pineda and the national government for bringing the government closer to coastal folks as they benefited from the “Caravan of Services”.

Last Friday, Pineda led the officials of different local and national line agencies in the comprehensive and integrated delivery of social services which have been made readily available at the doorstep of indigent families.

The caravan of services include free issuance of Birth Certificates by the Local Civil Registry (LCR), counseling on proper family planning and parenting by the Commission on Population (PopCom), distribution of assorted vegetable seeds by the Department of Agriculture (DA), and initial recruitment for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP), among others.

Also, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) headed by Regional Director Adelina Apostol  distributed Cash for Work and Conditional Cash Transfer under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (PPPP).

Provincial offices were also present to render services like livelihood forums and employment opportunities through the Provincial Cooperative and Economic Development Office (PCEDO) and Public Employment Service Office (PESO), while the Provincial Health Office (PHO) offered free dental and medical services including the patients’ prescriptions.

In her message to the residents, DSWD Regional Director Adelina Apostol stressed that they should strive to get themselves out of the “poor list”.

“Dapat may pangarap. Kahit anong proyekto, kung walang pangarap at kooperasyon mula sa inyo wala rin.”, she added.

Meanwhile, Governor Pineda vowed to address the concerns raised by the local officials in the area. Aside from providing social services, the governor inquired about the residents’ other needs during her visit.

“Asahan niyo po, pagbalik namin ng kapitolyo, may pupunta na rito para asikasuhin lahat ng kinakailangan niyo.”, the governor stated.

Pineda also expressed her gratitude to the unwavering support of the various government agencies as these projects will not be realized without them.

Also, governor led the distribution of relief goods together with Mayor Peter Flores, and Board Members Nestor Tolentino and Ric Yabut. (Angelique DC. Tuazon, Pampanga PIO)
