San Simon Folks Receive Free Medical Services, Aid from Manila Doctors, Metrobank Foundation

More than a month after the onslaught of typhoons Pedring and Quiel in Pampanga has passed, yet relief assistance and medical services still continue to flood the affected families in various municipalities of the province.

This, as medical specialists from Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) and Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MFI) recently sponsored a one-day medical mission for typhoon survivors in San Simon town.

Close to 5,000 residents of San Simon, one of the most heavily-flooded municipalities in the province, benefitted from the various free medical services provided by the MDH and MFI in close coordination with the Pampanga provincial government.

More so, Dr. Dante Morales, MDH senior vice-president for medical affairs, turned-over to Vice-Governor Joseller “Yeng” Guiao the P500,000 check donation from the Metrobank Foundation, Inc. for the rehabilitation of typhoon-affected families in the province.

The medical team led by Morales, Dr. Mario Joselito Juco, MDH medical doctor and Dawn Aberilla, MDH executive assistant to the senior vice-president, also donated relief items such as blankets and shoes to the typhoon survivors in the said municipality.

Guiao said that Governor Lilia G. Pineda’s and the entire officialdom of the provincial government are indeed grateful to the sponsoring entities as he acknowledged that these various donations and assistance including the medical outreach activities would greatly benefit the affected communities.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Andres S. Pangilinan, Jr., Provincial Treasurer Pia Magdalena Quebal, Environment and Natural Resources (ENRO) Head Arthur Punsalan attended the turn-over of donations and conduct of medical mission.

In related developments, Pineda enjoined all concerned agencies of the government including the private sector to join hands and work together for the speedy recovery and rehabilitation of typhoon-devastated areas in the province as she stressed that the provincial government alone could not shoulder the rehabilitation of billion pesos worth of damaged roads, bridges, dikes, school buildings, agriculture and fishery in Pampanga.
