Governor Lilia G. Pineda led hundreds of provincial government officials and employees including municipal officers in the tree planting activity held in the upland community of barangay Camias Resettlement Center, Porac town as part of its environmental protection program.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Andres S. Pangilinan, Jr. said that hundreds of mahogany trees were planted by employees of the provincial government in line with the governor’s desire to promote the preservation and protection of our ecology.
Pangilinan said that Capitol employees, together with department heads and Board Members Fritzie David-Dizon, Nestor Tolentino and Salvador Dimson,Jr. trooped to the upland community as early as 4:30 in the morning and started planting mahogany trees at six o’clock in strategic areas of the resettlement center.
Porac Mayor Condralito dela Cruz, Vice Mayor Dexter David and other officials of the municipality joined the provincial capitol group in the said activity.
After the tree planting, the governor led the distribution of assorted food items to some 700 indigenous peoples ably facilitated by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Elizabeth Baybayan.
The chief provincial executive also found time to meet with the teachers and high school students of the resettlement center and discussed with them the school’s pressing needs and concerns.
To this, she instructed the provincial engineer’s office and other concerned departments to provide the necessary assistance and services in addressing the issues and requirements raised.
The governor also distributed assorted goodies to the high students who welcomed the visiting group with rendition of Filipino folk songs.
Similar tree planting activities were also undertaken by the provincial government in Barangay Nabuklod, Floridablanca town last June in line with its on-going eco-tourism development project. (Pampanga PIO)
