CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Pampanga Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda thanked taxpayers and committed proper public fund usage after the Department of Finance (DOF) recognized the provincial government for excelling in local revenues generation in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
In awarding rites last Monday in Clark Freeport, the DOF’s Bureau of Local Government Finance ranked Pampanga in the Top Ten among 1,715 provincial, municipal and city governments seeking to increase local income.
For 2020, Pampanga placed Top 3 in the category Collection Efficiency of Locally Sourced Revenues (LSR) with a rating of 142 percent, surpassing the target of P956.6 million and raising that to P1.37 billion.
Pampanga ranked Top 4 in Highest Nominal LSR and Top 9 in Year-on-Year Growth on LSR.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa mga taxpayers. Ang buwis po ay gagastusin sa tamang programa,” the governor said when he accepted the certificates of recognition.
He also thanked Provincial Treasurer Pia Magdalena Quibal for performing her duties well.
The Pineda administration outperformed itself. In 2019, it ranked Top 6 in Year-on-Year Growth in LSR, Top 8 in collection efficiency in LSR and Top 10 in Highest Nominal LSR
Governor Pineda said the provincial government’s honest and effective governance have “earned the trust and confidence of the business sector and the payment of local taxes is their way of expressing their confidence in us.”
One of Governor Pineda’s strategies in increasing local revenues was the proper regulation of the multi-million quarry industry from which the capitol collected P289.7 million from July-December 2019 and P609.2 million for 11 months in 2020.
