CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – The Provincial Government distributed P4,000 each to 1,755 Nanay Community Workers (NCW) from the towns of Sta. Ana, Mexico, Arayat, and Magalang under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Friday, December 13.
This developed during the ‘Empowering Women Through Involvement in Disaster Management: Orientation on Gender DRRM’, organized by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) headed by Angelina Blanco, at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center, here.
The distribution was led by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, and assisted by Congressman Carmelo Lazatin II, Board Member Cherry Manalo, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Luningning Vergara, and Pampanga DOLE Chief Arlene Tolentino.
Prior to this, NCWs from the 4th district of the province were also given compensation the day before for the 10-day work they rendered under the TUPAD program.
Aside from the issuance of salary, the beneficiaries also received packs of goods from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Elizabeth Baybayan.
Governor Delta, meanwhile, acknowledged the huge contribution of the workers in the quick dissemination and implementation of programs in the fields of health, education, disaster preparedness, and peace and order of the provincial government at the grassroot level.
“I hope you still continue to work for the betterment of our community, even without our presence. I hope you also give the same love and respect to whoever is administering your respective cities, towns, and barangays,” the governor said.
NCW is an organization which consists of volunteer household wives. It was formed in 2015 by then governor, now Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, to be the provincial government’s companion in responding to issues that concern the province.#
