CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – Some 2,088 college students, including those who graduated, from 21 municipalities of the province received scholarship grants under the Provincial Government’s Expanded Educational Financial Assistance Program (EEFAP) at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center yesterday.
Governor Dennis “Delta” G. Pineda, assisted by board members Cherry Manalo, Fritzie David-Dizon, Rosve Henson; ex-officio board members Garbriel Moshe Lacson, president of Sangguniang Kabataan Federation; and Renato ‘Gabby’ Mutuc, president of Liga ng mga Baranga, led the distribution of EEFAP amounting to P6,264,000 to help the student-beneficiaries with their educational needs.
The governor told the beneficiaries to increase next year the educational assistance.
In his speech, the SK president said, “See education as a solution to any problems in the society. Education is the only way to eradicate poverty in our country, and in our province. See it as the key to uplift yourselves from the burdens of life.”
Lacson added that the students should just enjoy their schooling and don’t consider it as an obligation, but look at it as a gift.
Meanwhile, Gov. Pineda said, starting next year, the distribution and facilitation of the scholarship grants will be under the office of the governor with the help of Board Member Mylyn Pineda Cayabyab and other board members.
“Starting next year, you’ll be under my sponsorship. Do not worry, you’ll be my priority until you graduate,” he added.
The distribution and facilitation of the educational assistance was sponsored by Philippine Councillors’ League – Pampanga Chapter led by its former president, Board Member Olga France “Fritzie” Dizon. #
