CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – To showcase the children’s abilities and talents, the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO) conducted a Children’s Congress at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center (BZGCC) in line with the celebration of National Children’s Month.
This year’s congress, with the theme “Isulong: Tamang Pag-aaruga sa lahat ng Bata,” according to PSWDO Head Elizabeth Baybayan, is divided into four categories: poem recital, clay molding, song impersonation and folk dance.
For poem recital, Apalit town bagged the 1st place, followed by Candaba (2nd) and Guagua (3rd). For clay molding, Floridablanca won, followed by Sto. Tomas and Magalang towns as 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Sta. Rita town got the 1st place for the song impersonation, while Mabalacat City won 2nd and Mexico, 3rd. For the category of folk dance, Sta. Rita town got the 1st place followed by Candaba (2nd) and Floridablanca (3rd).
Winners of the contests will be representing the province in the upcoming Regional Children’s Congress on Friday, which will be hosted also by the PSWDO Pampanga at the BZGCC.
The congress was participated by 1,400 attendees from the 21 municipalities and cities, including the participants’ parents and Child Development Workers.
Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon lauded the event which is one way of building the confidence and skills of the children.
Board Member Cherry Manalo and Renato ‘Gabby’ Mutuc, meanwhile, said nourishing the child at an early age and helping them to appreciate their gift of talents is preparation, motivation and encouragement for a child to do well in school and future endeavors.
