DOLE, Capitol distribute P24-M to SPES beneficiaries

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Labor and Employment-3 (DOLE) and the provincial government distributed the salaries of 2,884 Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiaries amounting to P24, 849, 812.

The distribution of salaries was held at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda led the distribution together with Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda; Alex Insa Cruz and Arlene Tolentino, Chief Labor and Employment Officers from DOLE-3; and Davao City First District Representative Karlo Alexei Nograles.

Arlene Fajardo, assistant statistician focal person for SPES from the Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) said that the students beneficiaries were the last batch in 2017 to be given salaries of P8, 616 for the services they rendered during their summer vacation.

“The beneficiaries were students from different school in the province who were tasked to work as enumerators, validators and encoders in different offices,” she explained.

Fajardo also said that the beneficiaries got 40% of their salaries or P3, 446.48 from DOLE and 60% or P5, 169.72 from the provincial government.

In his speech, Vice-Governor Pineda, added that he is requesting a raise of P10, 000 for the salaries of beneficiaries this coming summer this year. He also mentioned of the inclusion of more students for the future opening of such program.

“Students from the private schools are also welcome to be members of the SPES program as long as they are Kapampangans,” he said.

Governor Pineda meanwhile advised them to study harder to have a brighter future and to stay away from drugs for them to be able to finish their studies.

Also present in the event are Board Members Anthony Joseph- Torres, Cherry Manalo, Rosve Henson, Olga Frances David-Dizon, Gerome Tubig, and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Mangement Office head (PDRRMO) Angelina Blanco.
