CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Davao First District Representative Karlo Alexei Nograles visited Pampanga recently to join the celebration of 132nd birth anniversary of a Kapampangan National Hero, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Acting President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, Jose Abad Santos.

Congressman Nograles said in his speech that the heroism shown by Abad Santos must be remembered and kept in the hearts of every individual.

He also stressed that it is not necessary to die for one’s country but to live in order to serve the country.

Cong. Nograles believes that there are a lot of youth who wish to involve themselves for the progress of the country but do not have a chance. That is why he is happy to announce that the country is giving the youth a chance to prove themselves through the power of education.

“I want to inform all of you that for the school year of 2018 to 2019, the free tuition and miscellaneous fee for state universities and colleges nationwide will be continuous,” Cong. Nograles said.

He added that the congress gave full efforts to allocate P40-billion to provide for the tuition and miscellaneous fee of the students.

Meanwhile, former President, now Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said in her speech that her father, also former President Diosdado Macapagal, declared Abad Santos to be a national hero.

She was also thankful that the former Olongapo-Gapan road was changed to Jose Abad Santos Avenue road in commemoration and honor of the national hero.

Aside from Representatives Nograles and Arroyo, Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, provincial board members and local mayors also joined the event.
