PHO dental health serves 35,885 in 2017

City of San Fernando—A total of 35,885 Cabalens from the 18 municipalities of the province were served by the Provincial Health Office under the Preventive Dental Health Management System.

According to Dr. Thricia S. Sunglao, provincial dental supervisor, they have accomplished at least 75 dental missions from February to December in 2017.

With this, some 22, 143 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries were given oral prophylaxis and fluoride application, 5,310 non-members of 4Ps and 27,453 children last year.

The PHO dental team has also conducted tooth extraction to 4,843 4Ps beneficiaries and 2,589 non-members of 4Ps while 240 4Ps beneficiaries were given dentures. Around 760 4Ps beneficiaries received Pits and fissure sealants in 2017.

Sunglao disclosed that in November 2017 during the 3-day caravan in Macabebe, the PHO dental activity got P 1-million income under her supervision through PhilHealth.

She is optimistic to spread the Oral Health Awareness to all the Cabalens to prevent especially the children from having dental problems and promote the Oral Health Month’s theme, “Ngiping Inaruga Mula sa Pagkabata Malusog na Ngiti Baon sa Pagtanda.”
