Capitol serves 8,790 underweight children

City of San Fernando— The provincial government through the Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC) has served 8,790 children under its health and nutrition assistance program.

Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Rustica Butiu said the provincial government has provided micronutrient supplementation benefitting 1,370 school children in the 10 towns of the province with the theme,” Batang Mag-aaral Palakasin ang Katawan Tungo sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan.

Some 1,615 pre-school children aged 2 years old and above in the ten towns of Pampanga were given multi-vitamins for two months under the theme, “Iwas Putla, Batang Masigla”.

The PMC has also conducted Community-Based Milk Supplementation benefitting 1,615 2-year old and above children within two months.

Butiu added the PMC utilized the remaining P300, 000 budget last year for the Community Based Milk Supplementation for the benefit of pre-school children aged 25 to 71 months old or 2 years old and above who are severely underweight.

The PNC has also conducted Emergency Feeding Program benefitting 4,190 children including their mothers with micronutrients and community based- milk supplementation.
