PSWDO orients 200 drug reformists, kin on parenting, community-based intervention

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – At least 200 drug reformists and their kin recently were given orientation on Parenting Services and Community-Based Brief Intervention to motivate the participants who are at risk of substance abuse to change their behaviour and totally give up their use of illegal drugs.

During the orientation initiated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) at Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol compound, the drug reformists were given an understanding on how their substance use put them in danger.
Annabelle Pecina, social welfare officer IV, said some of the participants in the said activity were graduates from of three-month reformation program conducted at their respective Bahay Pagbabago Dalan ning Pamagbayu in Floridablanca and Arayat towns.

Pecina added that the kin of the drug reformists were empowered to increase their capabilities in nurturing their relatives.
The Pampanga Police Provincial Office recorded more than 20,000 drug surrenderers in the province since the implementation of the provincial government’s program dubbed as “Dalan ning Pamagbayu”. This program is focused on the reformation and rehabilitation of Kapampangans who fell to the ills of illegal drugs.
After the orientation, the attendees were given food packs as part of the provincial government’s assistance in their reintegration.

The PSWDO is set to conduct another orientation for drug reformists from other towns and cities of Pampanga.
